Get Behind Magic Flute, The Musical
Magic Flute, the Musical will run from Wednesday the 6th to Friday the 8th March 2013 in The Civic Theatre in Tallaght. Expect a musically enchanting extravaganza set in a circus with princes,
maidens (awaiting rescue), ninjas (see below), dragons, unscrupulous bankers and the
evil Queen of the Night herself accompanied by choruses and orchestras of Alexandra College and JSS.
A production like this, involving 120 students, requires more funding than can be raised through ticket sales. We raised most of the money via passionate in-house fundraising but are just short of our venue and technical costs. And so we turn to you..... Please sponsor our school production by clicking this Fundit link

Art Classes do Cork
On Wednesday 28th November 5th & 6th year students traveled to Cork to visit the Crawford art gallery, to view exhibitions that will aid them during the
Leaving Cert Art History exam and meet with tutors and students in Crawford art
college. Thanks to Ms O'Lomasney for great shots of their trip.

| At the Crawford Gallery |
At the Cork Crawford Gallery students saw the Greco-Roman Sculpture Casts made circa 1816 by Canova from
originals in the Vatican
Museum. These are the
only ones in Ireland. They also saw paintings from Samuel Forde, Nathaniel Grogan, Jack B.Yeats,
Evie Hone, Mainie Jellet.
They visited the Lavitt Gallery which holds a lot of Irish ceramic artists
work. As the group are working with ceramics at present they got a hands on
experience of the ceramic works in a gallery space, then they got to experience
a ceramic workshop in the Crawford art college and also got to speak with
printmaking tutors and students in their own working studio spaces.
JSS Music Recital, 10th December
Úna Nà Chanainn presented a magical recital for John Scottus parents on the 10th of December in the refreshment room of Northumberland Road. This is a slideshow to give you an idea of the range of talent and interest our small school contains. Children from both Secondary and Primary schools played their pieces beautifully and with confidence. We were treated to performances of the TWO JSS string quartets and a cello quintet in addition to individual pieces. We even had a double bass & cello piece performed for us.
