4th Class
Girls are getting in mood for Samhain. Inspired by no less than the Bard’s
words in Macbeth “…wool of bat and tongue of dog…double, double, toil and
trouble, Fire burn and cauldron bubble…”
Poetry Aloud is
the annual all Ireland
poetry speaking competition organised by the National Library and Poetry Ireland. The
competition seeks to celebrate the joy of speaking and listening to poetry.
Five first year girls; Amy, Kiya, Mazzy, Caitlin and Hannah and James from
second year were accompanied by Miss McIntyre to the National Library of Ireland. Each
one recited their poems clearly, with expression and complete fluency. Well
done to all involved!
The
Magic Flute is
cast and rehearsals are underway. The 'production team' (Trish Bunyan,
Susie Spratt , Valerie McGeough and Fran Dempsey) are working towards the show opening in March at the Civic Theatre in Tallaght.
Costume designs for the upcoming JSS Musical Theatre Production of the Magic Flute have been leaked to the John Scottus School BLOG. In an exclusive post we offer a sneak preview of the fabulous costumes planned for the Civic Theatre in March. Enjoy!!
Congratulations to Hannah Lohan who lined out during half-time in the All Ireland September 23rd. Wearing the colours of Donegal and playing mid-field she represented her school brilliantly. JSS Primary nearly got to Croke Park last year when they were narrowly defeated in the semi final of Cór na Laochra cup. Hannah also plays for Clann na Gael. Thanks to her former teacher Miss Carroll (currently 5th Class girls) for the photos.
First Year were at BRIDGE 21 in TCD last week. By collaborating on digital projects, students learn essential life skills, including
communication, problem solving, and project planning- all critical
components of a rounded 21st century education.
They were charged with imagining a new product or service that would benefit people.
